“I met Joredan at a Home and Garden event and decided to spring for a free water test and estimate. He was super friendly and knowledgeable, explaining everything and answered all my questions. … Water from the tap tastes fantastic now.”
“Joredan made no sales pitch, but offered to have my water tested to see if the system was doing what it needed to be. This was at no cost to me. … Joredan still didn’t try to sell me anything…”
“He came out and did thorough testing on our water through a very transparent process. He spent a ton of time with us explaining all of the chemicals in our city water…”

Before you book
Free water test, quick answers
How soon can you test my water?+
We reach out within 24 hours of your request, often the same day, to set a time that suits you. The in-home test itself takes about an hour. In a hurry? Call (970) 773-6439.
What does the free water test measure?+
The on-site test checks water hardness (in grains per gallon), total dissolved solids, chlorine levels, and pH. For well water, we collect a sample for a certified lab panel that goes deeper, testing for iron, bacteria, nitrates, and other contaminants common to Grand Valley private wells. We pay for the lab work. You get every result explained in plain language.
I’m on a well. Is the in-home test enough?+
For city water, the free in-home test covers the contaminants most relevant to Grand Junction municipal supply. Well water is different, bacteria and nitrates require certified lab testing to detect reliably. Smart Living Water pays for certified lab analysis on wells. We cover it because accurate data leads to the right system.
Do I have to buy anything?+
No. The test is free and completely no-obligation. If your water is in good shape, we tell you that and walk away. We've done exactly that for customers who already had systems installed, tested their water, confirmed it was working, helped them optimize settings, and left without selling them anything. Honesty costs us nothing and keeps customers coming back.
Where do you offer the free water test?+
We run free in-home water tests across the Grand Valley and beyond, including Grand Junction, Fruita, Palisade, Clifton, Loma, Mack, Whitewater, Delta, Montrose and Denver, and we travel to your home for the test at no charge.
Why does my water look cloudy or leave white residue?+
Cloudiness usually comes from dissolved calcium and magnesium, the same minerals that leave white scale on dishes, faucets, and inside your water heater. Grand Junction water routinely tests at hardness levels high enough to visibly affect appliances over time. Sediment spikes are also common in spring when snowmelt increases turbidity in Colorado River source water. The test gives you a number instead of a guess.
