What Gypsum's Water Report Shows

Highlights from the Town of Gypsum's 2026 Consumer Confidence Report covering 2025.

Gypsum treats its creek and spring water and disinfects with chlorine. In 2025 the report shows total trihalomethanes averaging 5.99 ppb and haloacetic acids averaging 3.92 ppb, both low compared with the federal limits of 80 and 60 ppb. Naturally occurring radionuclides appear at low levels: combined uranium at 3.8 ppb against a limit of 30, and combined radium at 1 pCi/L against a limit of 5. Nitrate averaged 0.25 ppm and sodium 5.75 ppm, and chromium and selenium were detected at low single-digit ppb levels. The 2024 lead and copper sampling put the lead 90th percentile at 2 ppb across 20 homes, under the 15 ppb action level. The report does not list a hardness value, so our test measures hardness at your tap along with chlorine, iron and total dissolved solids.

What We Install

Water Treatment Options in Gypsum

Each system is matched to your results.

Whole House Water Filtration

A whole house filtration system at the main line reduces chlorine taste and smell and traps sediment before it reaches fixtures, so every tap and shower in the house benefits.

Drinking Water Filtration

If the goal is just better water for drinking and cooking, drinking water filtration gives you clean water at the kitchen tap without treating the whole house.

Water Softener Installation

Gypsum's report does not publish hardness, so we measure it. If your tap shows enough hardness to leave scale, a water softener sized to that number is the fix.

Whole Home Reverse Osmosis

For homeowners who want uranium, nitrate and other dissolved solids taken as low as practical throughout the house, whole-home reverse osmosis is the most thorough option we install.

What Gypsum Homeowners Should Know

Surface water supplies can change with the seasons, especially around runoff, and the town's source water assessment lists a wide range of potential contamination sources in the watershed, from roads and septic systems to oil and gas wells. That is a screening list of what could occur, not a finding that it has. Inside the home, the town's report notes that lead comes mainly from service lines and household plumbing, and residents can ask the town for its service line inventory. If your home is on a private well, no utility samples it for you. Our free water test shows what is in your water specifically.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the Town of Gypsum get its water?
Its 2026 water quality report lists three surface water intakes: Gypsum Creek, Little Gypsum Creek and Mosher Springs Pond.
Is Gypsum water hard?
The town's report does not publish a hardness figure, so we do not guess. Our free in-home test measures it directly, and we only recommend a softener if your number calls for one.
Is there uranium in Gypsum's water?
The 2026 report lists combined uranium at 3.8 ppb, well under the federal limit of 30 ppb, and notes it comes from erosion of natural deposits. If you want it lower, whole-home reverse osmosis is the system designed for that.
Can you test a private well near Gypsum?
Yes. A private well is not sampled by the town, so an in-home test is often the only data an owner has. The test is free.
Does Gypsum's water contain chlorine byproducts?
The town disinfects with chlorine, so small amounts of disinfection byproducts are expected. Its 2026 report lists total trihalomethanes averaging 5.99 ppb and haloacetic acids averaging 3.92 ppb in 2025, both a fraction of the federal limits. Some homeowners still prefer whole-house filtration to remove the chlorine taste and smell, and we can show you the difference on site.
