What the District's Report Shows

From Snowmass Water and Sanitation District's annual water quality report covering 2024.

The district's sources are East Snowmass Creek Spring, East Snowmass Creek, the West Fork of Brush Creek and Snowmass Creek, which is only used when demand is very high. Ziegler Reservoir holds 82 million gallons of emergency storage and serves as a supplemental source at certain times of year. In 2024 the plant distributed 513 million gallons. The report shows chlorine as the disinfectant, with total trihalomethanes at 5.15 ppb and haloacetic acids at 4.25 ppb, both far under federal limits. It also notes that water traveling over land and through the ground dissolves naturally occurring minerals, though it does not publish a hardness value. Our test measures hardness, chlorine, total dissolved solids and iron at your tap.

What We Install

Options for Snowmass Village Homes

Chosen by your test, not by a sales sheet.

Whole House Water Filtration

A whole house filtration system reduces chlorine taste and odor and catches sediment at the main line, so showers, laundry and every faucet get the same treated water.

Drinking Water Filtration

For owners who mainly want great-tasting water for drinking and cooking, point-of-use drinking water filtration is a simple, targeted step.

Whole Home Reverse Osmosis

When the goal is the lowest dissolved solids possible throughout the house, whole-home reverse osmosis is the most complete system we install. We recommend it only when your results call for it.

HydraShield Elite

The HydraShield Elite is our salt-free whole-house system, built in Western Colorado and designed to be maintenance-free under normal use.

What Snowmass Village Homeowners Should Know

The district's report has one point worth taking seriously for second homes and seasonal properties: if a house sits for an extended period without water use, lead and copper from pipes and fittings can leach into standing water, and the district suggests flushing for several minutes before drinking. The district's fall 2024 survey found no lead service lines in its distribution system, so any concern sits with fixtures and plumbing inside the home. Its 2024 sampling put the lead 90th percentile at 4 ppb. Sediment and turbidity from runoff are listed among the potential contaminants for every one of its sources, which is something a whole-house sediment stage handles well. The free water test tells you what your own plumbing is delivering.

Frequently asked questions

Who supplies water in Snowmass Village?
Snowmass Water and Sanitation District. Its annual report lists East Snowmass Creek Spring as the primary source, supplemented by East Snowmass Creek, with the West Fork of Brush Creek and Snowmass Creek as additional sources.
Is Snowmass Village water hard?
The district's report does not publish a hardness number. It does say the water dissolves naturally occurring minerals on its way to the intakes, so we measure hardness at your tap rather than assume either way.
Are there lead service lines in Snowmass Village?
The district reports that its fall 2024 survey found no lead service lines supplying homes in its distribution system. Lead can still come from fixtures and solder inside a house, which our test can help you check.
My Snowmass home sits empty for months. Does that matter?
The district notes that water left standing in pipes for a long period can pick up lead and copper from fittings, and recommends flushing before use. A whole-home filtration system and a test after you return are both sensible steps.
What does the district's treatment remove, and what is left for my home?
The district's report says its plant uses filtration and disinfection to remove or reduce microbial contaminants such as viruses and bacteria, and inorganic ones such as fine sediments, salts and metals. What it cannot control is the plumbing inside each home. Our in-home test shows what actually arrives at your fixtures after the water has passed through the mains and your own pipes.
Do you have a location in Snowmass Village?
No. We are based in Grand Junction and travel to Snowmass Village for tests and installs. Call (970) 773-6439 to book.
